Description

Displays the location of lightning strikes on a Google map using the StormVue(TM) data file produced by the NexStorm(TM) application from Astrogenic Systems (http://www.astrogenic.com/).

Menu

• Refresh - load the latest data for the chosen detector.
• Run - replay the last hour of strikes.
• Settings - change the settings.
• Info - display basic info

Settings

• Detector - choose a detector from a list or Custom for your own detector. NZ Combined and NZ Correlated are the results of merging and triangulating NZ detectors.
• Choose on map - click to choose a detector using a map.
• Update detector list - reload the list of detectors from this website.
• Automatic Refresh - tick to automatically refresh strike data.
• Refresh Interval - sets the time interval for automatic refresh.
• Age Interval - strikes are coloured based on their age and this value sets the interval used.
• Show Detector - draw a small cross at the detector location.
• Show Graph - displays a graph in the bottom right corner of strike rate per minute for the last hour.
• Show Time - displays the time in the bottom left corner (useful when running a replay).
• Alternative colours - use alternative strike colours.
• Use map centre - set the custom detector location to the current centre of the map.
• Latitude - custom detector latitude in decimal degrees (south is negative).
• Longitude - custom detector longitude in decimal degrees (west is negative).
• Data URL - URL of the StormVue dat file for custom detector.
• StormVue Scale - scale used on StormVue by custom detector, usually 600km (375 miles).
• Discard Edge Strikes - strikes beyond the limits of the 1200km square used by StormVue appear on its edges. Tick this box if you want the app to discard them.

Detector owners who would like their detector added to the list should email me with the following information:

• A name for the detector, usually a town or city (US owners should include the state code). This will be prefixed with a country code.
• Latitude and longitude of the detector (south and west are negative).
• The full URL of the StormVue dat file.
